30 Stories for 30 Years: Chapter 29– Season of Giving

To celebrate this season of giving, PPAGer Lorna O’Hara spent a day of service with her parents Lorna Sr, and Gene O’Hara in Bonita Springs, FL.  They rang the bell of the Salvation Army  and donated time at Cafe of Life, whose mission is to provide basic human needs to the poor and hungry people of Bonita Springs, in a manner that preserves their dignity and respect.
The Café of Life provides a hot nutritious meal Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The meals are cooked by volunteers at their homes and include a casserole, vegetable, salad, milk and juice and often hard-boiled eggs, fruit, and cookies from the pastry table. Each meal begins with a prayer given in English and Spanish.
